Q. What is the prescription range of Kubota Glass?

A. The prescription range of Kubota Glass is +0.50D to -12.00D in the most minus meridian (including the cylindrical power) in 0.25D steps; cylinder 0.00D to -2.00D in 0.25D increments; axis 0 degree to 180 degree in 1 degree steps. The range of binocular interpupillary distances is 51.0 mm to 65.0 mm. Please contact us if you have any question about the prescription range.

 

Q. I have astigmatism. Can I use Kubota Glass?

A. Yes, Kubota Glass can be made for prescriptions with up to 2.00D of astigmatism

 

Q. I have strabismus. Can I use Kubota Glass

A. Yes, but visual experience may vary for individuals with strabismus. Please consult with your personal eye care professional.

 

Q. I have presbyopia. Can I use Kubota Glass?

A. This product is an augmented reality device that uses special lenses and cutting-edge technology to project-specific, modified illumination. There is no harm associated with the use of Kubota Glass, but if you have any concerns, please consult your personal eye care professional.

 

Q. Does Kubota Glass work with presbyopia?

A. This product is an augmented reality device that uses special lenses and cutting-edge technology to project-specific, modified illumination. The unique illumination system may aid with near-focus demands for presbyopia, but consult with your eye care professional regarding your specific needs.

 

Q. Will my vision be restored

A. This product is an augmented reality device that uses special lenses and cutting-edge technology to project-specific, modified illumination. There is no evidence that Kubota Glass may work to restore vision.

 

Q. Are there any side effects

A. No side effects have been reported in clinical trials to date, and the device has undergone extensive and rigorous safety testing.

 

Q. Can I use Kubota Glass with contact lenses?

A. Yes.

 

Q. I am currently undergoing treatment for myopia with orthokeratology. Can I use Kubota Glass at the same time?

A. There is no risk associated with Kubota Glass being used with other myopia treatments. If you have specific concerns, please consult your personal eye care professional.

Q. Under what circumstances should it be used?

A. Kubota Glass should be worn indoors only and used when seated whenever possible. Do not wear Kubota Glass while walking, driving, or exercising.

 

Q. How long does Kubota Glass need to be used in a day? 

A. 1 to 2 hours per day is recommended.

 

Q. Are there any age restrictions?

A. It is designed for people aged 6 and up.

 

Q. Can Kubota Glass be used with family members? 

A. No, because each Kubota Glass is customized for each user. 

 

Q. Is Kubota Glass water-repellent or waterproofed? 

A. Kubota Glass is coated to be water-repellent (nano-coated), just like a hearing aid. Kubota Glass has a water-repellent design for everyday use but is not fully waterproof. Do not soak Kubota Glass in water, such as an ultrasound bath. In addition, do not use Kubota Glass in a bathtub or shower. Please refer to the Instructions for Use for further information.

 

Q. Is there any special maintenance required for Kubota Glass?

A. Only use the lens cleaning cloths supplied with Kubota Glass or similar micro-fiber cloths available at optical stores to avoid scratches on the lens. Lens cleaning spray for plastic lenses with anti-reflective coating can be used on Kubota Glass itself and the eCase. Using household cleaning products such as ammonia, bleach, alcohol, baby wipes, etc., may damage the glasses, lenses, or eCase. Do not use an ultrasonic eyeglass cleaner. Always store Kubota Glass in the eCase and keep it out of direct sunlight.

Q. What is the weight of Kubota Glass?

A. The weight of the Kubota Glass frame is approximately the same as a standard pair of glasses, but since Kubota Glass incorporates two lenses per eye, it may be heavier than a standard pair of glasses. With prescription lenses, the overall weight is approximately 40 grams, although actual weight may vary depending on the power of the prescription lenses.

 

Q. What is the size of Kubota Glass?

A. The temple size is 125mm. The range of interpupillary distance is 51.0 mm to 65.0 mm. In the U.S.A, the common sizes for adults are between 135mm-140mm, and the interpupillary distance for most people is 56.0mm-64.0mm.

Q. I live outside of Japan/U.S.A. Can I still purchase Kubota Glass?

A. Currently, Kubota Glass is only available to residents of Japan and the United States.

 

Q. What is the selling price?

A. The suggested retail price is USD$5,200 (excluding tax and shipping), but the cost may vary depending on the services provided by your eye care professional.

 

Q. What methods of payment are available?

A. Please contact the location from which you intend to purchase Kubota Glass.

 

Q. How long is the lead time for delivery from the purchase date

A. It is usually a two-month lead time for delivery, but it may vary depending on prescription requirements and distribution/shipping times.

 

Q. Is it possible to try on Kubota Glass?

A. We have samples available at each location in Japan. Please contact them before visiting. In the U.S.A., please discuss this with your eye care professional.

 

Q. Can I cancel my order?

A. Any manufacturing defects are covered by a one-year warranty. See here for detailed warranty information. Since Kubota Glass is a custom device made to individual specifications, all sales are final.  Please contact your eye care professional or customer support for assistance.

 

About After-Purchase Care

Q. What kind of after-purchase care is available?

A. It comes with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. Please contact our customer support for details.

 

Q. Is there a warranty?

A. Please register your warranty online within 30 days of receiving your product to be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty for one year. You will need the serial number of your Kubota Glass and eCase for the warranty. These are on the inside of the right temple (“arm”) of the Kubota Glass and the bottom of the eCase.

 

Q. Is it possible to exchange lenses when my vision changes?

A. Prescription lens replacement can be completed, if needed, by request. Please contact our customer support for details and costs.

 

Q. Is it possible to change the frames as my child grows?

A. The length of the temple of the frames currently offered is 125mm.
